Divergent Chapter 16: It's a whole lotta nothing for twenty pages!

The readability of these chapters is pretty good, honestly. I know I gripe on the writing and how boring they are, but in terms of actual word flow-- it's really good. I just wanted to put that out there, because the problems I do have are strictly with the lack of proper plot and just general need to edit out superfluous details.

So right into it we go!

Divergent Chapter 14 & 15: This is the first time I have actually felt like flipping a table while reading a book.

The next two chapters are rather short, so I'm recapping the both of them together. Which is a weird thing to say, considering I just split a chapter from City of Ashes in two because it was like forty pages long.

I'm going to put a trigger warning for sexual assault on this recap, just because Tris encounters a moment of it (I suspect that's why chapter fourteen is so short) and it's so clumsily handled that it made me want to throw up and that isn't really a trigger for me. So skip over this recap if that might bother you. Also, I guess I apologise for how serious this recap is, but it seemed irresponsible to not talk about how truly fucked-up and problematic (even though I loathe to use that word) the actions are in this part of the novel.

Divergent Chapter 12: It's Monday and I Can't Think of Anything Witty to Say

We’re back with Tris and Divergent! Or, as I like to call it, a wet towel with no personality trains to become an Ultimate Fighter and makes the broody saltine cracker fall in love with her.

I mean, the plot of this novel is super compelling, and I feel like I should be incredibly interested in what’s happening, but it’s like the plot has been filtered through the most boring lens in the world and I’m just… meh about it.

We’re back to Divergent! Last week on the slow novel version of the Sorting Hat we watched Tris wimp out on helping her friend as she hung from a precarious cliff and nearly died.

Divergent Chapter 9: I'll be funnier when this book actually gets interesting.

Hi guys! I could apologise but let’s be real you all knew what was coming when you started following this blog. Academia owns my life and heart so it’ll always come first.

That being said, I have a few changes in store!

I will be re-capping both City of Ashes and Divergent by blog from this point onwards-- I just don’t have the time to edit videos this year! I’ll still be making book reviews and using my youtube, though.

With that being said, here’s a short recap! Chapter 9 is here! This gif is low on the gifs (as in, there are none), because it was really hard to find anything humorous to be perfectly honest. Not because I'm not funny (obviously I'm hilarious let's all be honest) but because this book is getting slightly boring.

Hey hey hey! Over 10k of academic words later and I finally feel like tackling Divergent again! We last left on a very intense cliffhanger ooh~

Basically, Tris has to make sure she does well in this weird hazing exercise to make sure she fits in somewhere for the rest of her life.

The more I describe this the more it sounds like a terrible Greek system in a bad movie, but whatever.

I can say this with absolute confidence: Elle Woods would be a Dauntless and she'd slay the initiation.

Hello, hello!

Well, my booktube is up and running and my videos are up and hopefully not completely terrible, so here’s my first review of Divergent!

The chapters in this novel are actually quite small (unlike some books I won’t name, coughTheMortalInstrumentscough) so I’m probably going to read a few chapters at a time. As well as, I have the physical hard copy of the book as opposed to an online one, so there will probably be a lot less quotations in this round of chapter-by-chapter blogging!
