Divergent, Chapter 13: The next person to call Tris a strong female protagonist gets blacklisted

We had a weird interlude of stupid long chapters with this novel, and now we're back to (mercifully) short ones, so I'll take what little victories I can get.

I'm losing patience with this book and its terrible pacing, because as cool as it is to describe each and every one of the initiation stages, that is not something that really needs to take the place of the plot...

Which... I'm still not sure what the main conflict here is. Because if the whole book is 'omg is she gonna get into Dauntless' well, then, I'm sorry, but that's a terrible plot. It is Chapter THIRTEEN and I still don't really know who or what the protagonist is fighting against, and that seems incredibly weird.

Well without further ado, let's see if this chapter brings some plot int the situation!

City of Ashes, Chapter 7: It got really nice out where I am so I went outside instead of doing this

Look, I could give you a long-ass explanation as to why this is so damn late, but I’m gonna be honest with y’all… I got nothin’.

We last left our gang of fearful leaders as they were exiting the City of Convenient Plot Points, AKA the Silent City, where a whole race of people were just eradicated. I’m not even kidding; every single Silent Brother was just straight-up murdered.

So, on that light note, let the recap begin!

Divergent Chapter 12: It's Monday and I Can't Think of Anything Witty to Say

We’re back with Tris and Divergent! Or, as I like to call it, a wet towel with no personality trains to become an Ultimate Fighter and makes the broody saltine cracker fall in love with her.

I mean, the plot of this novel is super compelling, and I feel like I should be incredibly interested in what’s happening, but it’s like the plot has been filtered through the most boring lens in the world and I’m just… meh about it.

City of Ashes, Chapter 6: Last week there was no incest, this week...

Hey hey! Lots has happened since I last posted, so hopefully you’ll forgive my absence. But I’m officially a holder of a BA in English!

I like to think this adds some sort of merit to these reviews; in reality it makes me seem a little more pretentious, and I think I’m okay with that.

Fairy’s got her first tattoos, and now they’re off to fight the bad guys without Adult Supervision because they are Young Strong Teens who don’t need the help of anyone over seventeen.

what is the difference between Ariel and Clary? We just don't know.

Divergent, Chapter 11: The conflict is made up and the plot doesn't matter!

I kept forgetting to do this recap and when I sat down to do it tonight I was like, ‘Nah you’re pretty on track. You did one last week!’ and then I checked and it has been TWO WEEKS so woops my bad y’all.

Getting down to business with Tris!

one day I'll say that phrase without hearing this song

City of Ashes, Chapter 5: This time, with almost no incest!

All right you nerds let’s get into this next chapter.

I want to commend CC for some top-notch writing at the beginning of this next chapter. I mean obviously she still over explains everything and spends a lot of time detailing things I don’t really care about, but she did a really good job making the reader feel frightened and in the dark here.
